The first floor features the main departure area with several shops, restaurants and service facilities. The ground level contains the check-in and separate baggage reclaim facilities as well as service counters and a secondary departure gate area for bus-boarding. Linate Airport features one three-story passenger terminal building. During this closure, most flights were rerouted to Malpensa, displacing approximately 2.5 million passengers. The latter project is expected to continue after the airport's reopening, concluding some time in 2021. įrom 27 July to 27 October 2019, Linate was closed for runway resurfacing and terminal upgrades. That year, 2001, also saw a major accident at Linate with many illegal and non- ICAO-regulation practices and layouts part of its then operation. Since 2001, because of Linate's close proximity to the centre of Milan – only 7 km (4 mi) east of the city centre, compared with Malpensa, which is 41 km (25 mi) northwest of the city centre – its capacity has been reduced by law from 32 slots per hour (technical capacity) down to 22 slots per hour (politically decided capacity) and only domestic or international flights within the EU or to the United Kingdom have been allowed. Linate airport buildings are located in the Segrate Municipality, and the field is located for a large part in the Peschiera Borromeo Municipality. Its official name is Airport Enrico Forlanini, after the Italian inventor and aeronautical pioneer born in Milan. Its name comes from the small village where it is located in the town of Peschiera Borromeo. Linate was completely rebuilt in the 1950s and again in the 1980s. The main targets of the project are: enhance functional distribution of the underground environment with rational and intuitive ways obtain a clear and simple arrangement of the people fluxes, in order to give more comfortable place enhance safety stations and finally the improvement of the disabled people accessibility. The airport was built next to Idroscalo of Milan in the 1930s when Taliedo Airport, located 1 km (0.62 mi) from the southern border of Milan and one of the world's first aerodromes and airports, became too small for commercial traffic. The reduced size of tunnels and trains will simplify the construction works and will reduce the overall impact. The 60 meter (197-ft) long trains are much shorter than the existing rolling stock similarly, the stations, will have platform screen doors, of 60 meters (197 ft) long, against the 110 meters (361 ft) of the three existing lines. The Line 4, like the new Line 5, will be completely automated, without the onboard driver. Effectively the stations are 20 meters deep under the street level, with a maximum depth of 26 meters. The railroad will be carried out by a small tunnel out of the city center, and in one big tunnel under the historical city. The stops will be interspersed with 30 artifacts needed for the emergency exits and ventilation tunnels and it will be ended with a train depot of 170.000 sqm at the west end of the line. The route of the Line 4 will optimize the infrastructures City coverage, and it will improve the interconnection with the suburban railway systems and the other metro lines. Sofia, Sforza-Policlinico, San Babila, Tricolore, Dateo, Susa, Argonne, Forlanini FS, Q.re Forlanini, Linate Airport. The line will have twenty one stations: San Cristoforo FS, Segneri, Gelsomini, Frattini, Tolstoj, Washington-Bolivar, Foppa, Parco Solari, S.
